Throughout the world, public sectors are increasingly adopting many approaches to enhance their productivity in delivering their products or services to their communities. Knowledge Management can be one of these strategies that the public sector organisations might seek to overcome the huge demand on improving the services that deliver. Understanding this paradigm, the influences and challenges will help these organisations in developing their knowledge management initiatives in order to make better informed decisions. This paper will summarise different point of views in the literature regarding the challenges that can be faced during the implementation of knowledge management with a focus on managerial, resources and environmental challenges. This article will present a conceptual model for knowledge management based on the literature reviewed in the field of knowledge management.
