Globalization, time to market, and customer responsiveness present new challenges for achieving organizational innovation across cultures. In order to foster innovation, organizations have to consider cross-cultural needs for improving communication and building a shared culture of innovation amongst global team members. This requires organizations to leverage cross-cultural team synergies in order to facilitate knowledge transfer, organizational change, and innovation that ensure sustainable market leadership and customer solutions worldwide. How can multinational organizations (MNCs) facilitate cross-cultural team collaboration in pursuing global product innovation? In order to respond to this question, we have evaluated current practices and emerging needs for cross-cultural team collaboration during the product innovation process within organizations. This study is focused on qualitative research using a mixed methods approach, including interviews with executives and senior managers responsible for global product introductions in multinational organizations based in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Karina Jensen is an international management consultant, instructor and facilitator with 20 years of experience in launching business and education initiatives across cultures. She is the founder and principal of Global Minds Network, a consulting firm that facilitates global launch management through effective planning and execution solutions. Karina has successfully launched and managed products and education programs across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific for companies such as Hyperion, Adobe, Macromedia, NEC, and Symantec. Based in Paris, France, Karina is currently pursuing her PhD in Cross-cultural Management at ESCP Europe. She also holds an MBA from the ENPC School of International Management in Paris, France, and a BA degree in Public Relations from California State University, San Jose. She has taught courses in France and the US on topics including International Marketing, International Management, Cross-cultural Management, and Managing Creative Organizations.
