This research studies how task and technology perceptions affect how groups adopt and appropriate groupware. The study found that positive attitudes enable faithful appropriations of technology by working groups.

Dr Perez-Alvarez worked as a consultant for a number of Venezuelan companies, in both the public and the private sectors, taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Fairleigh Dickinson University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, IESA in Venezuela, and EAFIT in Colombia, and also served as a member of the advisory board for some non-profit organizations in Venezuela.
