Appreciating Needs for Innovative IT Design
Identifying user needs is important as use of interaction technologies have grown and influence leisure time and work. This paper presents methods for identifying and operationalising needs in design processes.

Anna Ståhlbröst is a PhD student in Social Informatics. Her research interests are methods for creating and evaluating innovative technology. She especially focuses on developing methods that identifies and takes user needs into consideration in different use situations. Anna’s research has a strong relation to a Living Lab organisation in which most of her studies occur.
Marita Holst is a PhD student in Social Informatics. Her research interests are methods for creating collaborative working environments for innovative and boundary-crossing working groups. Her research focuses especially on critical factors in using information and communication technology to support and enable information exchange and knowledge creation in these types of groups.
