Stephen Allen was an international student enrolled at the La Trobe University’s Graduate School of Management. This paper is based on a joint research project commenced as part of his recently completed Masters of Business Administration degree. Since completing his study, he has returned to London, UK and is currently working in an employee and recruitment communication consultancy.

Keith Thomas is a senior lecturer at the Australian Defence Force Academy (UNSW), where he lectures in Organisational Behaviour, Leadership and Management, and Human Resource Management. His research interests are primarily in military leadership and education, with a broader focus on the impact of the knowledge economy on organisations and people.
