Town centre management focuses on economic, social and cultural revitalisation of town centres. The complexity encountered in town centre management, dealing with the most diverse stakeholders – local governments, local associations, property owners, residents and end-users of the town centre - is such that it needs to build on collaborative organisational team work to promote an all-inclusive approach so that it can produce feasable, sustainable implementation processes. Our work is a cross-analysis undertaken in Europe and in the United States, which contemplated reviewing of town centre management structures, aims, best practices and outcomes, as well as TCM literature. Results show key points in TCM management being the organisational culture based on capitalising on human relationships through the setting up of fruitful relations among stakeholders, that need to be proactive while developing a common vision and the subsequent revitalisation strategy.
