A study was conducted to find out if there is any impact of work in the Self-esteem of individuals who have opted for early retirement. The impact of work on the psyche of individuals is well researched. But does Work have an impact on the Self esteem of Early Retirees? If the hypothesis, that, there is a difference in the self-esteem of individuals, (depending on whether they are working at present or not) who have voluntarily come out of service is proved to be true, then this will have an effect on the present Human Resources in the organization and their morale and motivation.

Prof.R.Venkatapathy is currently the coordinator of the DBA programme @MMU Cyberjaya Malaysia on a tenure position as Specialist in Management. He is a full professor and Director of Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneur Development The Specialization areas include HRM, HRD, Entrepreneurship, Micro credit and self help groups and Capital markets. He had successfully guided 14 research scholars for the award of Ph.D. with 6 books to his credit. Has over 72 research publications and participated and presented over 96 papers in various National and International Conferences He lead one of the 16 teams invited to present the business plans at the Global Business Startup @ Singapore jointly organized by National University of Singapore and INSEAD in October 2004 Served as the Chairman of the selection committee to select the Faculty members to the Royal Rwanda University, Rwanda. He is in the editorial board of the several journals (like Journal of Personality and Behaviour, Management Review, Management Researcher, Management Journal of AU) Served as a member of the Expert panel in Managemnet for the University Grants Commission New Delhi and All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi for a decade.
