'…trust allows people to take part in risky activities that they cannot control or monitor and yet where they may be disappointed by the actions of others.’ (Jarvenpaa, Leidner, 1999). This article discusses the current influences of international virtual cooperation in the corporate IT sectors in India and Japan and explores the relevant factors regarding the enhancement of trust building and interpersonal communication in virtual teams. The approach of a successful virtual international cooperation mainly is based on a strengthened sphere of trust, mutual knowledge and motivated teamwork. An insight in the recently conducted six weeks project ‘Excellence in Japanese-Indian Virtual Teams’ would like to highlight certain specific fields of interest in Indian-Japanese teamwork constellations.
