This paper is a first approach proposing that the successful innovative capacity-innovativeness- is dependent on the knowledge creation capacity of the firm by reinforce or transform knowledge. And that the capacity to adopt innovations (from the outside) implies a lighter process of knowledge creation than in the case of innovation generation, reason why, the adoption needs reinforcement of the prevailing (old, existing) knowledge and the generation of innovations a knowledge transformation. The knowledge companies support there advantage in knowledge assets-the intellectual capital- so Human, Organizational and Social capitals independently, or through interrelations, are determinant in the knowledge creation process (reinforcing or transforming knowledge) to influence the organizational capacity to successfully adopt or generate innovations. This is a Theoretical approach need to be tested and validated.
