Today’s era is the one where the only thing that is certain is Change. These changing contexts of organizations have brought into focus the need for revitalized management. And reorientation in the way Human Resources are managed is no exception instead vital for the sustainability and growth of the organization. With time Human Resource Development has shaped and reshaped itself with the dynamics of organizational changes.

In contemporary context, for organizations to excel and run successfully, collaboration with its ‘People’ component is indispensable. Each change, as it unfolds creates the need for HR practitioners to take a fresh look at them, considerate attention and thereafter leadership initiative to help the organizations seize competitive advantage.

Indian business organizations are facing many challenges to be more innovative and customer driven; to renew and revitalize an organization; and to maximize return on investments, etc. These are challenges having several implications for HRM in terms of increased scope and significance in the contemporary situation.

It is pertinent to ponder over the changing HRD paradigm as it assumes such a crucial role in today’s organizational scenario. The paper attempts to discuss the changing perspectives of HRD studied in Indian banking organizations (in public and private sector) and discusses the status of change in the major HR practices in the context of forced organizational changes. The paper addresses the challenges before HR managers and the importance of HRD reforms in banking organizations.

In addition, I hold Diploma in Mass Communication & Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. My publication profile includes papers published in journals like The Indian Journal of Commerce and The Indian Journal of Public Enterprise. I have actively participated and presented papers in National & International Conferences including the 59th and 60th Indian Commerce Association Conference and HR Vision 2020. Currently working as a Lecturer in a leading HRM institute in Delhi, my subjects of interest include HRM, Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Development, Contemporary Issues in HRM and Competency Mapping. Also, I have been associated with organizations like GCMMF Ltd, Zydus Cadila for projects on Organisation Climate Survey, Induction Manual, TNI & e-recruitment. Having served as the Chairman of Alumni Committee of MHRM Program, MLS University for 2006-07, I have also been a member of Editorial Board, Organizing Committee, Convener of Registration Committee, and Souvenir Committee in various conferences and seminars.
